Sookie the Snuggler

So FoMa tells me that there is a chance for me to meet my furever family on Saturday, and boy am I excited! FoMa thinks I should tell all of you about one of the things I am very good at, which is head snuggling.

Anytime FoMa is near me, or sitting down, I love to put my head on her leg, lap, hand, feet... Basically anything my head will reach! I absolutely love it, because every time I do it, FoMa gives me scratches behind the ears and on my neck. Can I tell you how good neck rubs are?! They are so good, and FoMa has got nails so she itches just right spots. I hope my new family will like giving me ear scratches and neck rubs too, that would make me so happy!

Speaking of rubs, FoMa caught me getting rubbed on the legs by one of the cats in the house. Of course, FoMa's first reaction was to take photos, and she is making me post them. So here they are, I am so embarrassed!

But at least I am looking super cute in the photos so it's not completely awful! In fact, I am pretty sure I am the cutest little black dog ever. ;-)

Water, water everywhere!

So today FoMa and FoDad took us for a longer than normal walk around the neighborhood. My FoSisters and I didn't understand why we had to walk more than 10ft in July outside.
I even gave them the look of longing to go back:

They listened, but instead of going to the front door, we went around back and they had bought us a kiddie pool with water! My FoSisters got right in, but I did not understand what on earth we were supposed to do with it....

FoMa brought me over and I had a lick of water and she put my feet in one at a time, and next thing I knew I was all the way in!

It felt so good after that longer than normal walk... I guess that's why the FoParents did it! I don't think I would mind doing that again, it should be pool weather all year long!

Stairs and cars

So I have officially become master of the stairs in the house (see photo below for proof) and I almost like upstairs as much as my crate. I have even started collecting my favorite things in the house and instead of putting them in my crate,
I put them upstairs on my bed. I love having a spot of my own to have all my toys in. :-)

Also, I have figured out how to jump in the back of the car! I thought it was too far for me to jump, but after watching my FoSisters do it I knew I had to try! ( Plus it was totally embarrassing having FoMa put me the back of the car, I am a grown doggie!) Now I make it look so easy I am not even sure why I was scared of it.

I hope my forever family will have stairs and cars too so I can show them how awesome I am at my new found skills!

US History Lesson

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days, FoMa didn't have time to type out my words!

So I didn't find my furever home last weekend but its ok, I met a lot of nice folks! Hopefully next time I can find my furever family!!!

This week has been full of fun in the sun! Some of FoMa's relatives came up so we did some DC area staples.  Here I am at Mount Vernon!

P.S. that is Janeen (my FoSis photo-bombing the bottom of my beautiful photo)

I had fun meeting FoMa's relatives, even all the high schoolers that they were chaperoning. Mount Vernon had a lot of interesting sights and smells! I really enjoyed our walk around there. My FoSisters and I slept the REST of the day after it. We were so tired!

I have finally mastered the stairs in the house too! I did ok on normal steps, but FoMa's steps seemed like they go straight up and I was so nervous. FoMa worked with me to get me used to the stairs and now I am totally a pro. Thank goodness too, because my bed is up those stairs!

Toys!

I have discovered these great things, they come in all shapes and sizes and best part is they squeak! To FoMa's dismay, I figured out these squeaky things for the first time at 4 in the morning. FoMa kindly explained that sleep is as important to humans as it is to greyhounds and that squeaking was much better when everyone is awake.  Oops.  When i went to go look for more of these squeaky toys, FoMa had a convenient pile of them for me to play with and I tried out every one of them and loved them so much they all ended up in my crate. I wonder how that happened... :-)

Oh and FoMa says I might be able to go to my forever home tomorrow! So excited to see what the day brings! Maybe a family all my own!

Trips!

So yesterday FoMa decided it was time to take me on very first outing. First we went to Petsmart which was interesting because of the number of new and different smells in there! I was a little nervous, but FoMa said I did really well! We walked around for a while and we got lots of love by everyone. I even conquered the slippery floors like a pro.

Then we went to Home Depot and I felt much more confident there (I think it was the nice concrete floors). I can't wait until I am as confident as my two FoSibs are in those places! With just a little bit of practice, I will be a pro too.

Speaking of my FoSibs, here we all are at Home Depot!

Aren't we cute?

Cats... Friend or Foe?

I mentioned some small furry things I am currently sharing my foster home with in a previous post. Turns out these strange things are called cats. They are some of the most confusing creatures I have ever met! There are 4 living with me, one of them is the boss and she is not very nice to me, she hisses and swats at me as I walk by. On the other hand, the other 3 cats purr and run up against my legs and head like they like me. I just don't understand! Hopefully someday cats will be explained to me, but until then I guess I will get along with them for FoMa's sake, she does seem to love them.

Speaking of FoMa, my new favorite pastime is to follow her around the house.  Everything she does is so new and interesting and I want to investigate all of it! One thing I found following FoMa around is this strange flat thing on the wall. When I look into it I see another black greyhound! When I move my head she moves hers. It is so very strange because I only see that other dog when I look in the flat thing on the wall. Come to think of it she looks a lot like me...

Oh and:

Oops.... I did it again.
